The Lighting of the Wilton Christmas Tree
December 6 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pmFREE
The famous Wilton Christmas Tree Event has been changed this year from Monday to FRIDAY 6th December.
Wilton Town Council, after an online survey earlier this year have decided to move their famous Lighting of the Wilton Christmas Tree from the first Monday in December to the first Friday 6th December. It was felt a Friday would be better for families, without school next day, and to make it more of a family event. Over the years it has attracted more and more people and will be the same format as other years. Both car parks in the Square will be closed from 11.30am and from 4.00pm a Christmas Market will be held, with entertainments, rides and food and drinks. Michelle Church will be singing live from 5.30pm and Father Christmas will also be there. At 6.30pm the Mayor of Wilton, Cllr Ivan Seviour will do the countdown for the lighting of the tallest living Christmas Tree in Europe and the Traditional Nativity Play and Carols presented by Wilton Christian Fellowship and local children will take place, ably supported by the award winning Wilton Royal British Legion Band. This will be followed by Sarum Morris doing their Winter Dances and their hilarious Mummers Play later in the Bear. The Bear will also host their popular “Garyoke” Christmas singalong and more carols will be sung in the Greyhound. Invited Traders ONLY. All events are FREE.
