A charity picnic and lunch share that was started by the Eden Project in 2009 has spread across the country and in 2014, millions of people joined in and took part. Wilton’s first Big Lunch was held in the community centre in June 2013 but in 2014 was moved to July, the day after the Carnival, and held in the Shopping Village. It is a great get-together for the community, to share food and fun, hear some music and have a picnic party.
The Wilton Christian Fellowship ran a family service to start the day in 2014 and will do the same again in 2015.
Both Big Lunch events were in aid of the Salisbury Trussell Trust Food Bank and vast amounts of non-perishable foods were donated to the charity.
